The Tourist Organization of Thailand (TOT)takes pleasure in suggesting the following selections of tours in and outside of Bangkok.
The Organization itself does not operate tours, so we advise that you contact your travel agent for further details and help with actual arrangements.
 
1. BANGKOK SIGHTSEEING
This tour takes about 3 hours by car. Visit Lumpini park; Pasteuir Institute with its Snake Farm; Chulalongkorn University; Wat Benchamabopitr (The
Marble Temple); the Zoo; the National Assembly Hall (The MarbleThrone Hall). On the way back, pass along modern Ratchadamnoen Avenue to the Golden Mount and the outside walls of the Grand Palace.
A visit to the Lacquer Pavilion at Suan Pakkard Palace i's also recommended. Decorated with 17th century murals in gold leaf and wood carvings, it houses a collection of rare antiques. It is open Sunday, Tuesday. Thursday and Saturday, 9a.m. to noon and 2p.m. to 4p.m.
 
2. GRAND PALACE
Visit the Grand Palace Grounds, go through wat Phra Keo with i'ts Emerald Buddha Chapel, Golden Chedi, the Royal Pantheon and Mondhop (Library).
Male visitors must wear coats and neckties. women are requested not to wear slacks or shorts or slippers. The Grand Palace is open all day on Tuesday and Thursday, but only in the morning on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Still cameras only are allowed in the Palace Grounds and the compound of the Wat Phra Keo. No camera of any typecan be used inside the Chapel of the Emerald Buddha.
 
3. TEMPLE TOURS
This tour includes six of the most unusual Buddhist temples-wat Sutat with its two Chapels and the Giant Swing-Wat Rajpradit with its Khmer Tower-Wat Indra with its huge Standing Buddha-Wat Trimitr with its newly discovered Golden Buddha-Wat Borvornives.
Time: About 3 hours.
Afternoon :
Visit Wat Po, the most extensive temple in Bangkok, with its colossal Reclining Buddha and the Chedis of Kings-Wat Rajborpitr, famed for its beautiful mother of pearl inlaid doors-The National Museum.
Time: About 3 hours.
 
4. FLOATING MARKET
A "must" for all visitors to Bangkok and an unforgettable experience. is the " Floating Market" up the Chao Phraya River and the klong (canal). This takes place in the early hours of the morning when the farmers market their produce: bananas, pineapples, mangoes and other exotic fruits. For color and variety, this scene of Thai life along the river cannot be equalled. Stop at Wat Arun, famed Temple of the Dawn; later, view the Royal Barges.
Floating market tours usually end not far from the Phramane Ground where on Saturdays and Sundays the unusual Weekend Market is well worth visiting.
 
5. NATIONAL MUSEUM
For those desiring to take a fascinating trip into Thailand's glorious past, a visit to the National Museum will be most rewarding. It will not only give one an exciting glimpse of the historical background and cultural growth of this country, but also broaden
